The SSA organizes general and thematic congresses. They are used as places for exchange of information between the different research committees and to promote contacts between sociologists from all over Switzerland.

The association organizes its’ own general conference once every two years. Spread over two or three days, this enables members to present their research and to receive information on various subjects.

In alternate years, thematic one or two day conferences on more specific themes take place, usually organized by one of the Research committees.
